Isola x Bréza

We’re keeping it small, local
and meaningful.

In January 2022, I received an invitation from Isola to set out on a journey together to create a special line of ceramic cups inspired by the island colours of Hvar. I was very excited to work on this project because as a child I spent summers in Hvar, and that evoke memories of the beautiful time I had there, visualizing all the colours of the island — the hues of the sea, sky, sand and rocky cliffs.

The cups come in combinations of turquoise, warm white, sand, and brown earthy colours, while some also have a hand-painted golden sun — embodying the sunniest island in the Adriatic Sea, the island Hvar. They truly celebrate the simple yet magical island vibe only the Mediterranean can provide.

Our journey from the idea to the first batch of cups lasted for six months, many sketches and samples, calls and emails were all part of the process, and we're so happy with the final result.

I especially enjoyed working with Matea and Igor from Isola, we had the same vision and philosophy from the beginning. I have to praise them for coming up with great copywriting for our collaboration and making a special effort with the photography so that the cups shine in their full glory. You are awesome! ♡

I made all cups by hand on the pottery wheel in my home studio in Zagreb, Croatia. They're hand-made, slow-made, and that's why they come in limited quantities for this 2022 season.

And for Isola, it’s all about keeping it local — one collaboration, one artisan and one cup at a time.
